Profiling My Audience

My magazine reader would be a person called Trey he is 17 and he is attending college he is studies AS Graphic’s Design, ICT, Maths and Physic. He is passionate about RnB because he likes to fall in love a lot and RnB helps him by telling him how he is feeling.What influence Trey to listen to RnB music is that are about love, heartbreak and life and suggest to the audience that my magazine are aim at people who are in love or heartbroken. He loves listening to music everywhere even in when he is bathing it relaxes him or when he is falling a sleep. Trey likes to find new RnB music and share it to his friends to see if they would like it or not. Some of RnB artist that Trey listens to is Pleasure P, Trey Songz, Bei Maejor and Chris Brown. What Trey likes do is socialize with people on his blackberry messenger, he also goes on a lot of dates and spends like £40 on each dates and another thing trey is that he has got an urban fashion sense and wear clothes such like The Hundreds clothing, stussy, Money clothing etc.

How to target my audience for my magazine

• use a range of colours to attact my audience.
• use a use artist that are in the same genre.
• not too much text.
• make my magazine cheap because some of my audience are students.
• pages that include trendy style people or models.

Front Cover Magazine Anaysle (Vibe)

Denotation

The magazine cover shows a colourful photograph because of the cover lines and the masthead. The male is looking directly at the camera. The camera shot is a medium close up showing only the head and the body. The background only shows the males shadow and a grey background which also matches with his jacket.  The male name is in a big font with pink letter this is to get people attention, there also the magazine website on the bottom of the page with suggest to the viewers that they can find more information online.

Masthead

“vibe” is the masthead. The masthead is in a cyan colour. They must of chosen the colour cyan because it’s a bright colour and it catches people attention. The font is in a sans serif because there no flicks between the letters or joined up. The masthead also tells us it’s a music based magazine because vibes means the atmosphere of someone giving communication to you to feel.

Character

The male is in the cover is a rapper called Kanye West

The composition of the magazine is that the masthead is behind the character, also there cover lines that goes over the character.

Costume

The male is wearing a jacket which is a varsity jacket. The jacket suggests to us that he is American because the varsity jacket was originally from America to do with college, the jacket also represent his age because mostly teenage wear varsity jackets.

NVC

The non verbal communication looks like he is giving us the puppy looks which suggest to the viewers that we should like fall for him. His facial expression looks like he is listening to us what we are saying and this is effective because if someone talks to us we have to listen right cause if we don’t listen to the person talking they might not want to listen to you, so this is effective because it suggest to us we should listen to his music.

Lighting

The lighting in this covers shows that it’s daytime because there shine on his face also there a shadow behind the male which also tell us that it’s daytime.

Setting

There isn’t any setting in cover because it’s just a grey background but the grey connotation of grey is that it’s stylish or fresh it could suggest that the male is stylish and fresh.

XXL is standing out in the magazine. What makes the masthead stand out is the colour red because you don’t see much red in cover. The front is a sans serif which has not flicks up. the front also used red and white colours to show it’s a famous brand such like “Coca cola”, “Supreme”, “rolling stone” etc.  I think the magazine business named them self “XXL” because so they are a big company, also where else you see XXL is in clothing and when you buy an XXL clothes it means big.  I guess when musicians are on the front cover of XXL it might mean they are a big artist and they are successful.

Denotation

As you can see the male rapper is playing chess which kind of suggest to the readers that the rapper has got a strategy on what he is doing.  He is sitting down on something but you can’t see the chair, it looks like he is raising his right brown because his right side of his forehead is showing his wrinkles. There is a bar code at the bottom right hand corner.

The clothing makes the character look more fearsome because he looks like a gangster because he is wearing all black and most gangsters we all black.

The character costume is wearing a jacket with leather material and cotton material and a black tee shirt. The jacket suggest to the audience masculinity and strength, it also a rebel icon as well because when people wear leather jackets they all look tough like  on motorbike and they do bad stuff, the leather jacket are mostly worn by men. The black tee shirt suggests to us that he is coving up his skin which tells us that he doesn’t want to be seductive also the colour black is a connation of power and evil this also tell the audience that he has power and he is evil.

The non verbal communication shows that he is watching us this tells the audience that he is watching other rappers or singers what they do because he can make his next move to become bigger.

The lighting is can tell us what time of day it is, the lighting in the cover tells us that it is daytime.

The setting is a grey background which connotes timeless which tells the audience that he has a lot of time on his hands. The colour grey also goes with any colour.

The colours of the cover line are white and red because so it can stand out with the character costume. As you know these are all hip hop artist this suggest to us that XXL is a hip hop magazine.
